Popular and lively in the middle of the night! This marketplace never sleeps

Phnom Penh’s Doeum Kor “fruit and vegetable” market is most active in the middle of the night. From around 11 pm, trucks packed with fruit and vegetables begin to arrive. The shipments start at the main gate of the marketplace, then span out southward along Monireth Boulevard, stocking a giant wholesale fruit and vegetable market accessible only at night.

The covered area of the marketplace also opens early in the morning. All marketplaces open at 6 am, but some shops that sell noodles, pork etc. start business at 4 am to serve the needs of those who sell breakfast food from their stalls. In addition, the marketplace surrounding the covered section is open all day, selling a wide variety of produce.

Rice Porridge and Fruit Shake

Customers and marketplace staffs alike enjoy the Rice Porridge and Shake Stand, open from evening through late night near the front gate of the marketplace.

The small covered main area of the marketplace offers goods for all of your daily needs. Fruit and vegetable shops line the road facing the south side of the marketplace, including stores selling large-scale units of watermelons. The road connecting with Monireth Boulevard is an open-air market itself. At night the expansive Monireth Boulevard streetside wholesale produce market opens.
